Who is Life As Mrs D?
I’m not gonna lie, I love filling in these sorts of Q&A’s. As I’ve mentioned before, they’re a great way of letting you get to know me a bit better…and they’re a super easy post to write! Yes, I know, such a cheat! Thanks so much to Jaymee from The Mum Diaries for tagging me. So who is Life As Mrs D?
WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU CRIED?
On Monday afternoon when I was catching up with Call The Midwife. I’m such a wuss and always cry at TV programmes!
IF YOU WERE ANOTHER PERSON, WOULD YOU BE A FRIEND OF YOURSELF?
I think so. I like to this I’m a good friend – always listen, rarely late when meeting up, filthy sense of humour….but then again I am rubbish at replying to messages a lot of the time, and am crap at actually finding dates to meet up with friends….but aren’t a lot of people like that!?
DO YOU USE SARCASM A LOT?
Never! (Read: I use sarcasm aaaaallll the time!) As Oscar Wilde says, it may be the lowest form of wit, but it is the highest form of intelligence!
WHAT’S THE FIRST THING YOU NOTICE ABOUT PEOPLE?
Whether they’re male or female usually!!
SCARY MOVIE OR HAPPY ENDING?
Always a happy ending, I’m not a big fan of scary movies…I don’t see what’s fun about giving yourself palpitations!!
Wood smoke I think has got to be top of the list, it’s just such an evocative smell.
WHAT’S THE FURTHEST YOU’VE EVER BEEN FROM HOME?
I think Malawi is the furthest I’ve been from home…I did just have to do a google search to see which was furthest – Malawi, Zambia, Nairobi (went to the airport!) or Los Angeles. To me LA looks further on a map, but nope, turns out Malawi is a further 2000 miles!
DO YOU HAVE ANY SPECIAL TALENTS?
Not really….I don’t think singing one song and somehow merging it into another song is classed as a talent…more annoying than anything else!
WHERE WERE YOU BORN?
I was born in the best county in the country…Yorkshire! To be more precise, I was born in Leeds.
WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES?
I really enjoy blogging, although sometimes it can feel a bit of a chore! I love watching films and reading books, but don’t have much time for either these days. I love gardening and spending time on my allotment. And I’ve recently decided that I really enjoying doing cross stitch!
WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GREW UP?
I think when I was really little I always wanted to be a teacher….far too much paperwork now these days though to think about doing that…which I guess is the same with most jobs!
HOW MANY COUNTRIES HAVE YOU BEEN TO?
About 20 I think.. I keep losing track of which ones I’ve counted! Most of them are in Europe, but I’ve done a fair few in Africa…(yes, I am cheating and counting an airport stop-over in Kenya, lunch in Zimbabwe, and a toilet break in Mozambique!!)
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE/WORST SUBJECT AT SCHOOL?
I think my favourite was English, I like to think I was generally quite good at it, and on the whole enjoyed it. My worst subject? Probably Maths, I hated it…I was alright at it, but I had a really bad teacher whose reply when you said you didn’t know how to do it was ‘well you should do, I’ve explained it once already!’
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE DRINK?
Caramel macchiato…..or Gin & Tonic!
WHAT WOULD YOU (OR HAVE YOU) NAMED YOUR CHILDREN?
Our little girl is called Isla Jean – Isla is from the Scottish island, Islay. We had to go to Islay first to get the little ferry across to Jura, and we had some fantastic holidays there with friends. I really miss that place! And Jean was my Grandma’s name.
WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVOURITE YOUTUBERS?
I love watching Charlotte Louise Taylor, and brummymummyof2 (she is a complete fruit loop, but funny to watch)
HOW MANY BOYFRIENDS HAVE YOU HAD?
Serious ones….3 I guess. And then a few silly school ones…my brother likes to date moments from our teenage years by who I was going out with at the time!
FAVOURITE MEMORY FROM CHILDHOOD?
Running up and down hay bales near “Hazel’s Cottage” in France, and then having to hide because the farmer was coming. I don’t know whether we actually had to hide, or whether the farmer was actually coming, but Dad told us we had to, so we did, and it was lots of fun!
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR FASHION SENSE?
Boring! I wear jeans and a t-shirt, and usually some sort of hoody or cardy. It’s comfy and I’m happy in it. I don’t have the time, patience or money for fashion!!
TELL US ONE OF YOUR BAD HABITS?
Playing on my phone in bed. I can go to bed at like 10pm…but then end up playing on my phone until 2am or something stupid like that! I can’t help it though, when I’m in bed that is the time my mind has to wander as it’s not concentrating on anything, so I end up looking up whatever it is that comes into my mind…so many hours wasted!
So, that is Who is Life As Mrs D!
