The Top 7 Tag With Life As Mrs D
Thanks to One Frazzled Mum for tagging me in her Top 7 of 2018 tag post. I’ve already looked at how I did with my 18 for 2018 goals, but I like that this looks at a few different areas, and also gets me looking towards 2019.
I am rubbish at sticking to New Years Resolutions. And tend to do better at working towards a goal, or a few others, so although this post wont look at which goals exactly I plan to achieve this year, I think I may make that another post…partly to hold myself a bit more accountable. However, those that read my 18 for 2018 reflection post will know that that doesn’t necessarily work with me, as I’m not too sure I achieved many of my goals for 2018, but at least I worked towards them in part.
So, here is the general gist of this tag post.
- Your Favourite 7 Posts from 2018. They can be any posts at all that you are proud of.
- 7 Things You Loved The Most About 2018. Whether you visited somewhere, or just had one of those moments you will never forget, if you loved it, list it!
- 7 Things You Are Looking Forward to in 2019. Whether those plans are set in stone or you something you would like to do this year, share with us.
- Tag 7 Bloggers to Take Part. Share the love and tag 7 others who would like to take part.
- Say Thanks. Link back to the person who tagged you and/or myself so people know where to find the tag to join in too.
So here are my Favourite 7 posts from 2018:
Life Lately – Bumps, Byes and Bombsites – I’d had a bit of time off of blogging for a while as I was so exhausted, and we had a lot going on, but this got me back in to writing a bit.
The first trimester – how different is it this time around – This post is only a recent one, but seems to have done really well so far
Cocktails, Mocktails and Food with Belvoir Fruit Farms – I had a really good evening at this press event, and it reignited my love for cocktails…and then mocktails when I could no longer drink cocktails anymore
20 week scan – gender reveal – I loved sharing with everyone that we will be having another little girl
A Year of Living Arrows – 2017 – I was really sad that I didn’t manage to do another full year of Living Arrows in 2018, life just got in the way. But I love this post that contains all of my Living Arrows photos from 2017 in.
Come Dine With…. Life As Mrs D – This post was the start of my Come Dine With blogging series that I have been running. It has been running for nearly a year now, and I love seeing as to which famous people, dead or alive, people would invite to their dinner party
Make Isla an item of clothing #101in1001 #48 – For each task completed on my #101in1001 I write them up, why I’m doing them and how I went about it. I was really proud of myself for getting this done, and actually it didn’t take as long as I thought it might do. Unfortunately I haven’t got around to making anything further, but maybe that’s a goal for 2019
7 Things I loved about 2018:
Our family holidays to France in May, and St Ives in September. We don’t manage to get away as often as we used to now that we only have one wage coming in. But we’ve been lucky enough to go on holiday with my parents twice this year. Some people may think that sounds like their idea of hell, but we really enjoy it.
Becoming pregnant with this little Bus, and finding out we’re having another girl. It will be absolute chaos, but we’re really happy that we’re expanding our little family
Starting to make some money on my blog. It’s not a fortune, but every little bit helps, and there have been a few times that having just that little bit of extra money has really helped. It has given me lots of fun opportunities too
Going to the theatre several times. We saw Wicked in Birmingham earlier in the year, thanks for my lovely Daddy getting us tickets. And I also saw Everyone’s Talking About Jamie with my wonderful friend Sam.
Having our first Christmas at home as a family. I love Christmas, and I love going to either my parents’ or my mother-in-laws’ for Christmas. But Chris decided that we needed to start our own traditions, and so now every third year we will be spending Christmas at home. It wasn’t as stressful as I thought it might be, but that could be because I didn’t cook Christmas dinner!!
Watching Isla growing up. She is, on the whole, an absolute delight. And she has changed so much over the last year. I’ve actually just done a post on my favourite photos of her from 2018.
Getting to see family and friends a lot. Although we’ve had at least one weekend at home each month, we have seen lots of family and friends, and it has been lovely. Life is likely to be a bit crazy in 2019 for us, but I hope we get to see lots of people again.
7 Things You Are Looking Forward to in 2019
Expanding our family. I am so looking forward to welcoming our little Bus into our family in April. I’m a bit apprehensive about how different things with be, but it will be great too
Moving house. Although our current house buying seems to have fallen through thanks to the bank and their crazy crazy thought process. But we are hoping that we will still be moving house at some point this year.
As mentioned above, I’m looking forward to spending time with family and friends. With moving house we will be moving areas too, which means we will be closer to some friends and family, and so get to see them more often. But it also means we will see less of friends that we have made in this area, which will be a shame.
Hopefully being a bit more organised. I try this at the start of every year, and it works well to begin with, and then life gets in the way, and it falls by the wayside. I’m going to try to be a bit more organised with my blogging. But also with the house. I’ve been attempting The Organised Mum Method of keeping the house in check. I don’t keep to it religiously, but vaguely follow it, and I do think in general it has helped. It enables me to be a bit more focused, and feel a bit less overwhelmed. Seriously, if you don’t like cleaning, but it needs doing, but also don’t have much time, then this is the thing for you! 30 minutes a day on a different area each day. Give it a try (this is not an ad by the way, I just think it’s a great idea!)
Completing a few more of my tasks on my #101in1001 list. I have until July 2020 to complete my list, or as much of it as I can. I have so far completed 34/100 of my tasks, and have 18 in progress. Some of them will be really easy to complete, and I just need to get my bum into gear, but a few others will be a bit more tricky.
Hopefully seeing Les Miserable at Birmingham Hippodrome. We got tickets last Summer after much to-ing and fro-ing with my brother and his fiance about dates. But we finally booked seats….and then we found out I was pregnant. And the performance is 13 days after my due date! I am hoping that the theatre will allow me to take Bus with me, and I can feed her throughout the performance to keep her settled. Or at least, I have an aisle seat, so I can nip out if need be. But les Mis is my absolute favourite theatre show, and I would be gutted to miss it.
Wedding dress shopping! In a couple of months I will be going wedding dress shopping with my lovely sister-in-law to be, and I can’t wait for it! I will be an absolute whale at the time, as will be about 34 weeks pregnant, but I will be in good company, as her sister will be heavily pregnant too! We didn’t have any weddings last year, or any booked in for this year yet either, so I’m really looking forward to their wedding in 2020….wedding dress shopping will have to keep my wedding love going for this year
