Review: Tassimo English Breakfast Tea t-discs
Disclosure: I was sent these t-discs free for the purpose of this review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
When I saw Tassimo had posted on Facebook asking for people to review their Twinings English Breakfast T-discs I jumped at the opportunity. Chris is a huge fan of English Breakfast tea, so was really excited when I told him they’d accepted me to review them. Their email said that it could be 28 days before they get delivered, so I’d completely forgotten all about them, until I got them delivered at work the other day!
As soon as I got home I fired up the Tassimo machine, and made both me and Chris a cup of English Breakfast. I was eager to see how it would turn out, I’ve tried a few of the other teas (Étoile de Russie – big fan, Forest Fruits – absolutely hideous, though hubby loves it, Green Tea and Mint – love it with a couple of sweeteners) so wondered what this one could be like. Usually with teas I’m one of those weirdos that like it fairly weak, so I was apprehensive to see how strong the English Breakfast would turn out. For Chris it was the perfect strength – though to be fair however you gave it him would be perfect, he’ll have his drinks how they come! For me however, it was a bit strong. There is plenty of room in an average cup to add more hot water or milk if that’s how you like it, so that’s good.
This is a much quicker way of making tea, as you don’t have to wait for the kettle to boil, however if you are a bit fussy like me, then it’s maybe worth the wait.
As for the price/value – you get 16 drinks for £3.79, which for Tassimo drinks is actually quite a good offer, however if you compare it to the price of a box of Twinings English Breakfast tea bags from your average supermarket (Sainsburys – you can currently get 100 bags for £4.50, or two boxes for £8) it’s not such a great deal. I guess it all depends on how often you’re going to use them really.
I would give Twinings English Breakfast T-discs from Tassimo 3 frogs out of 5, simply because they are too strong for my personal taste, and compared to tea bags they are not amazing value. Having said that I would love to give the Earl Grey T-discs a try as I love a cup of Earl Grey in the morning
