NCT Nearly New Sale Haul
A couple of weekends ago we went to an NCT Nearly New Sale in Beaconsfield to see what goodies we could pick up for Blueberry. We’re members of NCT (National Childbirth Trust) – mostly so that we can get early entry to NCT sales and grab the bargains- and finished our NCT ante-natal course at the end of last month – I may just get round to writing up what I thought of it at some point, as well as my reasons for choosing an NCT course over the usual hospital ones.
I’d been wanting to attend a nearly new sale for a while as I’d heard you can get some really good bargains at them, and with it being in Beaconsfield I thought there might be some really nice stuff there! The sale was due to start at 1pm for members, but we got there just gone 12:30, and I’m glad we did as there wasn’t much parking there, and it meant we were third in the queue to go in. Thankfully the weather was really nice, so we enjoyed the sunshine while waiting for the doors to open. Apparently they’re meant to let members go in first, and non-members go in 15-30 minutes later, but it just seemed a bit of a free for all to me – I didn’t have my membership card yet, so just had an email on my phone, but they didn’t really seem too bothered about checking it.
Chris and I really weren’t sure what to expect of the sale, so just walked in, and had a quick glance around. Having spoken to one of the women in the line, she said that she just grabs anything she may like, and if she decides she doesn’t want it later, then she will put it back – best to get things early rather than be disappointed. So this is what we went for. The first room had all equipment in it, like baths, cots, pushchairs, seats, etc. The second room had toys and books in, and the third room had clothes in, set out by age and gender (which was quite helpful).
We ended up spending £42 in total (+50p to pay for it on card), and below is what we got. If I can remember I’ve put the prices on the photos for what we paid, but I know most of the clothes I haven’t got a clue, we didn’t pay more than £4 for a piece of clothing though. I’m quite happy with out little haul, as we got a few bits and pieces that I’d been wanting for a while, and I’m quite glad I didn’t pay full price for them (I do love a good bargain!) Most of the clothes we picked up were in larger sizes (3-6 months+) as we’ve got so many 0-3 month clothes it is ridiculous! There are several dresses in there too, as we’ve got a couple of weddings in August so she’ll need something pretty to wear so these are possibilities, though it all depends on what she fits in to then!
Well, I’m pretty happy with my NCT Nearly New Sale Haul. I think we got some right bargains, and I’ll definitely be going to future sales to see what goodies we can pick up for Blueberry then. If any of you are planning on going to one I would definitely advise getting there early so you can be one of the first in, it does get a bit chaotic in there!
And while writing this, I’ve just had news that the first NCT baby has been born of our little group, and another one is imminent! How exciting (and also quite scary!!!)
