Kahlil Gibran – “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”

Living Arrows

Each week I link up with Living Arrows, a linky hosted by Donna from What The Redhead Said.  As Donna explains the project takes its name from a poem by Kahlil Gibran called On Children.

So every week I’ll be posting a photo of Isla from the last week that captures a moment of childhood.

We had a busy old week last week, starting it off at my parents’ house, and finishing it off at my mother-in-law’s house, with a couple of days at home in between. Seeing both lots of Grandparents means that Isla has been thoroughly spoilt as well. She has loved every single minute of it (in between the Terrible Two Tantrums!)

Isla has really developed a love for dolls over the past few months. And somehow the number of dolls she owns has been increasing too! This time last year she had just the one, and now I think she has about 6. All different, all with their own accessories….pretty much all with the same name – Baby!

I tell a lie, one is called Dolly, and her newest one, which was a birthday present from her Nana Jan, is called Rosie (Row-rie, cos Isla can’t pronounce it properly, its super cute!) Nana Jan helped to name her new doll, and I love that it’s called Rosie, as my doll when I was a little girl was called Rosie too!

Isla is, mostly, so loving with her dolls. She kisses them and cuddles them, lies them down and strokes their backs to help them go to sleep. But she does also carry them around by their legs, and suddenly drops them on their heads when she gets distracted by something else! There are also times when she gets jealous if I am holding one of her dolls, which is always amusing, as she usually gives them to me to cuddle in the first place!

I love that she knows exactly which accessories go with which doll as well! The memories of toddlers is just amazing isn’t it!?

I remember both Athena and Troy having a thing for dolls at a similar age. It sounds like she has had a really lovely week! x
