Kahlil Gibran – “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”

Living Arrows

Each week I link up with Living Arrows, a linky hosted by Donna from What The Redhead Said.  As Donna explains the project takes its name from a poem by Kahlil Gibran called On Children.

So every week I’ll be posting a photo of Isla from the last week that captures a moment of childhood.

Most of last week was fairly quiet. We had a chilled out bank holiday, doing not much at all. On Tuesday Isla and I had a fantastic day with a trip to the library, followed by a long play at the park, where Isla had her first go on a carousel. Another couple of chilled days, and then a busy busy day on Friday, heading over to Odd’s Farm to meet up with friends, and then an evening out with more friends. Isla was exhausted by the end of it! Then a weekend spent up at my parents, as we had family visiting from Australia who I haven’t seen in 15 years. It was a fantastic weekend.

This photo shows off Isla’s cheeky personality at the moment. She was playing peek-a-boo the whole time she was climbing up to the slide. Usually when she’s at the park she loves to spend aaaaages on the swings, but this time she wasn’t too bothered. I’m not sure whether it’s because there were lots of older children around as it was half term, but she wanted to play on lots of the bigger play equipment.

Don’t be deceived by how cute she looks in this photo though. She is fully in the terrible twos at the moment, and is throwing herself on the floor in a tantrum if she doesn’t get her own way at the moment. She is also mostly refusing naps (I am so not ready for this yet!), and she has been awful at going to sleep a lot of the time this last week. It’s a good job I love her, as it is exhausting! But she is so fun to play with at the moment, as her imagination is really developing, and it is so much easier to have conversations with her now that her vocabulary is expanding by the day.
