June’s Little Loves

May's Little Loves

Little Loves is a linky that runs once a month. It’s aim is to remember the little things that happen, and a nice, easy way of documenting them.

Read…

I’ve done it! I have finally finished reading the book I started reading on holiday back in May!! It was Falling to Earth by Deirdre Palmer. A really easy read, chic lit, and free on the Kindle when I got it. I’ve just downloaded a load more books to my Kindle, so maybe I’ll get some more read soon!

Watched…

The Split. I know it was aired back in May, but I never get around to watching anything while it’s actually on TV these days! I was totally hooked on this, and binge watched it over a coupe of afternoons while Isla was at nursery or having a rare nap.

I’m loving that Our Girl, and Ackley Bridge is back on TV now too. I love them both, and it gives me something to watch, usually in the background while I’m blogging, while Isla is at nursery on a Wednesday afternoon.

I’ve started watching Patrick Melrose on Sky Atlantic too. I’m not entirely convinced so far, but I think I’ll keep going with it and hope it improves.

Made…

Slightly tenuous this one….but I made my kitchen clean!! Our kitchen is always so messy, we have lots of counter space…and it just gets piled high with all sorts of things. So while Isla was at nursery one Wednesday I spent 5 hours cleaning our kitchen. And I’m pleased to say that after a week it is still pretty clean and tidy.

While at Gardener’s World Live this month we also had access to the BBC Good Food Show. One of the things I’ve always wanted to do, and have on my list of #101in1001 is to learn kitchen knife skills. And at the Good Food Show I got the opportunity to do that. It was great fun. I’m not completely sure I completely got my head around it fully, but already feel like my knife skills have improved.

Heard…

Isla has started calling me Mummy. Previously she has always called me Mama. But now, I’m really not sure how I feel about being called Mummy. It feels like she’s growing up too much! Chris laughed at me when I told her she needs to keep calling me Mama. So I told him I was going to teach her to call him Dad then, rather than Daddy. He didn’t like that!

And lastly…

We went camping for a few days at the end of June. We had a fantastic time, although it was so exhausting. Isla is still sleeping in a cot at home, as she wriggles about so much in her sleep she’d do herself a mischief in a toddler bed, so her sleeping on an airbed in a tent was interesting! Also, it was still so light when she was going to bed that there were several nights it took a lot longer than we’d hoped to get her to sleep. And then she’d wake up several times in the night! On the whole though, we had a wonderful time. I love camping!!

Your little one is so cute, and I love her name! Good luck with your knife skills, it can be daunting! I’ve taken a couple culinary classes and my dad is a professional chef and mine still aren’t perfect!

I am so jealous of your clean kitchen counter. We also have a fair amount of counter space, but always end up piling post and โ€œstuffโ€ on it.
We had a family camping weekend this year too, but ended up bringing the travel cot for my 2 year old for exactly the reasons you mentioned above. If you have space in your tent could be worth a try next time? The light I have no suggestions for though. Took my 2 a loooooong time to drop off.x

Sounds like a lovely month. We haven’t braved camping with our two yet, mainly due to me worrying about how they’ll sleep! Hopefully we’ll have chance to take them soon though. And well done on the kitchen cleaning! #LittleLoves
