In Hot Water….haha, I wish!

We’ve had a fun week (not!). Our boiler/hot water tank (owning my own house is going to go well if I don’t even know what important things are called!) has died a death. Last week it wasn’t heating water when we put it on over night, but was working when we put the booster on. However last Friday my darling husband turned the booster on when he got up so that I could have a hot shower when I got up…oh no, this then blew a fuse! And since then we haven’t had any hot water!

We finally managed to get someone to come out and have a look at it on Tuesday morning (the joys of estate management teams not working weekends). They said that both the immersions  (???) had burnt out, which apparently rarely happens, so they’ve had to order some new ones in. But it’s not as easy as that, it never is. Ours is a very specific part that you can’t buy off the shelf, you have to have it specially ordered. The latest is that it should be in either Monday or Tuesday, but they’re not sure!

So washing this week has consisted of boiling the kettle and washing over the sink, hair is washed over the side of the bath, with numerous boiled kettles, a washing up bowl and a jug. I don’t think our kettles been used so much!! And if we’re feeling lavish and desperately in need of a shower we go to the local leisure centre and have a swim or a sauna and then have a shower afterwards!

Thankfully I have so many clothes that I’m not running out any time soon, however I think Chris plans on finding a laundrette this evening so he can do some washing.

Roll on getting our own place…although if anything goes wrong there we’ll have to pay for it all ourselves which is the downside, but I’m hoping nothing will go wrong until we have a bit more money!!

Oh no! I’m nervous about owning our own place and being responsible for these sorts of disasters – but at least we will be able to call a plumber at the weekend when need be!

It’s a nightmare…every thing take three times a long. Fingers crossed it will be fixed on Tuesday! Then I’m going to have THE longest, hotest shower in the world!
