I’ve definitely found over the last few years that when I’m asked by family to write my Christmas List (does anyone else still do that!?) that I’m asking for less ‘stuff’, as there aren’t as many things I want or need, especially while we’re waiting to move house. Instead, I’m looking at more interesting food and drink items. It’s definitely something most people have in common, a love of good food and drink, and so here are a few ideas of what you could get your friends and family this holiday season.
For many people, Christmas starts off with an advent calendar. There are so many amazing ones these days, from *Gin to Beauty sets, *Cheese to Lego. But at the end of the day, I don’t think you can beat a traditional chocolate advent calendar. Thorntons Continentals are a firm favourite in our family, and this advent calendar will certainly go down a treat, especially as you get a bonus treat for Christmas Day too!
I’m completely in love with these Gingerbread Digital Scales from Salter. I’ve had the same boring set of silver scales since I was at university, and they’ve seen better days. I think its makes the kitchen, and cooking so much more interesting when there’s a bit of decoration to them, and they certainly encourage Isla to help with cooking too.
Since getting my SodaStream I’ve been drinking so much more sparkling water. And I’ve been loving trying different spirits with sparkling water too. These *Tonic Syrups from Jeffrey’s take drinks to the next level. Just add a few drops of these to soda water or sparkling water, and you have a fantastic tasting soft drink. They also go perfectly with gin, vodka, rum, and whiskey. I’ve found that the Lime, Galangal & Orange goes really well with spiced rum, and the Original Recipe pairs wonderfully with Gordon’s gin! Give it a try!
A great idea for a gift that keeps on giving is a subscription to Summerton Whisky Club. You can choose whether they receive a 50cl bottle of whisky bi-monthly for 3, 6, or 12 months. Perfect for the whisky novice, or the connoisseur, they can sample some of the best whiskies around, including rare, and brand new ones.
Am I the only one who feels it’s not really Christmas without piles and piles of chocolate? This *Cheeky Reindeer from Thorntons is perfect for everyone, from the kids to Grandad, the neighbours to a teacher. Or you could even keep it to yourself and use it as sustenance when wrapping all those presents!
This little set of Cocktail Syrups by Monin are perfect for those who love cocktails, or those that are wanting to start making cocktails. I’ve always been a huge fan of cocktails, and love trying new ones, but it’s so difficult when you don’t have all the millions of different syrups required. This set allows you to try out a few new tipples to see whether you like them, without having to splash out on the full size bottles.
This Deluxe Truffle Gift Set from Sous Chef is full of indulgent ingredients, including Truffle honey, Truffle oil, and Truffle butter. A wonderful gift for those who love the finer things in life, and love to cook. The gift set also includes tasting notes so you know just how to make the most of these quality ingredients.
