Eat 5 portions of fruit and veg every day for a week #101in1001

I’m not going to lie. This one was bl**dy hard to complete! It might seem like a really easy one for most people to do, but me? Nah! I’m not good a picking up fruit and veg and just eating it. Often, I wouldn’t even choose to have it with a lot of my dinners, and only have it because Chris insists on cooking some.

Seems really stupid considering we have an allotment doesn’t it!?! I will happily have all the veg and stuff we grow when we’re having a roast or something like that, but a normal meal I just don’t think of it.

I had to attempt this goal twice in fact, as the first time I failed it on the second day. Although, that was not my fault. I had it all planned out, and then my darling husband decided it was a good idea to dive head first into a brick wall when playing football. And so instead of eating a healthy dinner with lots vegetables that night, we ended up going to two hospitals, and my dinner was a McDonald’s at 2am!!

Anyway, I finally succeeded with this goal on my second attempt. I had a lot of fruit smoothies, which are a great way of bumping up the number of portions of fruit you have each day. We had stir-fries, and had lots of the veg we’d been growing at the allotment.

Did I enjoy this task? No. I really didn’t. I found it quite a chore to be honest. I did feel slightly inspired, and now have a Pinterest board of loads of different types of lovely smoothies I’d planned on making. But have I made any of them since? No. The fact that Isla doesn’t like the noise of the blender or food processor doesn’t help, but at the end of the day, it doesn’t take too long to make a smoothie, she could moan about it for 2 minutes. I just don’t think of making them, or often have all the necessary ingredients in to make them.

Maybe one day.

Either way, I completed the task, so it’s another one ticked off my list!
