Come Dine With…Slight North
Every Friday I’ll be posting another dinner guest wish list in my guest series, Come Dine With…
This series asks all sorts of bloggers who their dream dinner guests are, and why. As you’ll find out there is quite an eclectic mix! This weeks dinner guest wish list is from Di. You can find Di’s blog over at Slight North.
If you are a blogger and would like to take part in Come Dine With…. please contact me here.
So without further ado, let’s Come Dine With… Slight North
Anthony Bourdain – How can this not be my first choice? As a food lover and avid traveler, Anthony Bourdain was my number one inspiration as a child. He brought a sense of adventure to my TV screen even when I was growing up in suburban Ohio, and I believe his show is a big part of why I travel full-time today.
I admire him because he was able to stay real, authentic, and down to earth despite his fame. I’d like to talk to him about his favorite food destinations and how he really felt about being a food and travel icon.
JK Rowling – Just like Anthony Bourdain, JK Rowling had a major impact on my childhood. The first Harry Potter book came out when I was 6 and the last book was released when I was 15. I grew up with them and consider Harry, Ron, and Hermione classmates and friends.
Actually, can I have dinner with them instead of JK Rowling? I want to try all the amazing food from the feasts in the Hogwarts Great Hall!
Alex Honnold – Alex is one of the most famous rock climbers in the world because he free climbs without any ropes or safety equipment.
Obviously, he is insane, but I admire his sense of adventure and the way he has completely blasted through normal expectations and does his own thing. I’d like to chat with him about fear and his goals for the future.
Ranulph Fiennes – Just browse this guy’s Wikipedia page for a few minutes and you’ll know what I mean. Ranulph Fiennes is one of the greatest explorers on earth.
Among many other expeditions, he climbed Everest, discovered a lost city in Oman, has been to both the North and South Poles, crossed Antarctica on foot, and ran seven marathons in seven days… on all seven continents. I would love to just sit down and listen to his stories for hours.
Anyone Alive During Jesus’ Life – One of the apostles maybe, a king, or even just a normal person. I’d love to chat about what life was like back then and what they thought about witnessing the rise of a new religion. I’d also love to see their reaction when I showed them my iPhone.
Pharaoh Ramses II – I’ve always been fascinated with Egyptian history. If I can’t witness it in its prime, at least I can talk to someone who did.
Ramses II ruled for 67 years. I want to know what kind of treasures he owned, hear about the temples he built, and chat about the day-to-day struggles of declaring himself a god and running a massive kingdom that I’m sure we can all relate too.
