Driving Home For Christmas – The Christmas Tag

I’m one of those people who loves a good question and answer post. You learn a lot about people from them. I grew up in the age where it was all the rage to send out those quizzes on emails to all your friends. Did anyone else ever do that mammoth one that had nearly 300 questions on!? There were some well random ones on there!!

Anyway, thanks to Kate from A Less-Refined Mind who tagged me in this 2017 Christmas Tag. Read on to find out my answers

  1. What’s Your Favourite Christmas Movie?

I’m a sucker for Miracle on 34th Street. It’s a pretty feel-good film. This year I’ve felt the need to watch Love Actually though, but not yet managed to find it on TV to watch.

  2. Have You Ever Had A White Christmas?

I read somewhere the other day that the most recent wide-spread White Christmas in the UK was in 2010…though I can’t remember whether we got snow or not! We would definitely have had at least one when I was little, I think!

  3. Where Do You Usually Spend Your Holiday?

At the moment we alternate each year as to where we are. One year at my parents, one year at Chris’ Mum’s. Chris wants to start doing Christmas at our house though, so next year we may be at home, and alternate between the three.

  4. What’s Your Favourite Christmas Song?

It’s got to be The Pogues – Fairytale of New York hasn’t it!? Although, having said that, I’m always really annoyed if we’re driving home for Christmas, and Chris Rea doesn’t come on the radio!

  5. Do You Open Any Presents On Christmas Eve?

Nope, cos Santa hasn’t been yet on Christmas Eve! Although I do remember one year when at Chris’ Mum’s opening one present on Christmas Eve. That felt naughty!

  6. Can You Name All of Santa’s Reindeer?

Donner, Dasher, Dancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Prancer, and Blitzen. And Rudolph of course!

  7. What Holiday Traditions Are You Looking Forward To This Year?

Reading Isla the Night Before Christmas. I’ve read it on Christmas Eve most years since I was little, and I’m looking forward to Isla doing this too.

  8. Is Your Christmas Tree Real Or Fake?

Fake. In fact this year, we don’t even have our normal fake Christmas tree up, as we decided Isla would trash it, and there wasn’t enough space. So instead, we’ve bought a very small wooden one, which is sat on our dining table.

  9. Whats Your Favourite Holiday Treat/Food/Sweet?

Mum makes a wonderful cooked ham. It’s covered in marmalade and star anise, and it’s amazing. She cooks us one each year, and we always fight over it!

  10. Be Honest, Do You Prefer The Giving Or Receiving Of Gifts?

I usually say giving, although this year I have had enough of Christmas shopping, and I am fed up of wrapping them now too!!

  11. Whats The Best Christmas Present You Ever Received?

When I was about 15 I got a drum kit! I loved it! However, I was really shy, and didn’t really have the confidence to play in front of people!

  12. Whats Your Dream Place To Visit For The Holiday Season?

I would love to go to New York over Christmas. Snow, ice-skating, the big Christmas tree. It’d just be beautiful!

  13. Are You A Pro Present Wrapper Or Do You Fail Miserably?

I am horrific at wrapping presents. I just get so bored, and towards the end I even struggle to make the easy, square-shaped ones look good!

  14. Most Memorable Christmas Memory?

Erm… I don’t know. Getting my drum kit will always stick in my mind. I still remember sitting there like an ungrateful cow thinking “well I don’t have nearly as many presents as my brothers” and then heard a massive bang from upstairs as Dad and one of my brothers were getting it down out of the attic.

  15. What Made You Realise The Truth About Santa?

I honestly cannot remember. Mum and Dad still tried to keep me believing a bit longer I think, as I remember several years of trying to prove he wasn’t real!

  16. What Makes The Holidays Special For You?

I love spending it with family. It’s rare that we all manage to get together, and it does seem to get more and more difficult. But it’s lovely. I think next year, if we are staying at home for Christmas it will be really strange not to be spending it with family. But it will be nice to start new traditions.

While answering these questions they seemed a little familiar. And it turns out they are! I did the Christmas Tag last year too, and you can find my answers here. I found it quite interesting to see the differences and similarities between answers.

I’m passing the Christmas Cracker baton on to Nahdia at Nahdz Adventures, Bethany at Sincerely Twibey, and Mark at Big Man In The Woods.

Merry Christmas everyone, I hope you have a wonderful time whatever you are doing.
