10 Reasons To Be Happy

My 10 Reasons To Be Happy

  1. Isla
She really is my world. Although she’s only been with us for 11 months, it’s hard to remember a time without her. She lights up any room she is in with her big smile (most the time!) and she has the most beautiful eyes, and a lovely little laugh.

  2. Chris
My wonderful hubby. He’s put up with me for a very long time, just over 12 years now. My parents always remind me of how lucky I am to have him, and that they don’t know why he married me! He really is a keeper. He makes me and Isla breakfast and lunch every day. He changes all the dirty nappies when he is home, even if he is in the middle of doing something else. He acts as our chauffeur most of the time (although I am starting to drive more often). He does a lot of our gardening at home, and makes the place look lovely. He works so hard so that we can have the life we do.
  3. My parents
Mum and Dad do so much for us, both now and in the past. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them. I love that we are able to see them fairly often….although sometimes it is difficult to find time to see them as they have such a busy social life/so many holidays now they’re both retired! I love watching them spend time with Isla too, and how welcome they’ve always made Chris in our family

  4. My Mother-in-Law
One Friday after some pretty hard going training at work we were all asked to share what we were looking forward to doing at the weekend. My answer was ‘going to see my Mother-in-law’. I got some very strange looks for this! But I am so lucky to have a wonderful Mother-in-law, and we get on so well. And she has always made me feel part of her family. I love spending time with her, and wish we spent more time together. I can’t wait to go and stay with her for a few days at Easter.
  5. My allotment
Although I often curse it with the amount of weeds there are there (you name a weed, we probably have it!), I love it. We have worked so hard on it since we got it, and as it is out in the countryside it is so peaceful there. I love looking back on photos and seeing how it has developed

  6. Music
I love listening to music. I think it’s amazing as to how a piece of music can change your mood so much. Listening to music makes me so happy. Currently I’m listening to a playlist on Amazon Prime called ’90’s hits to make you happy’. And it does. There are so many great/cheesy songs on it, that bring a smile to my face. I’m a huge 90’s music fan!
  7. Lists
I’m one of those people who loves a good list. At the weekend I bought myself a big to-do list pad, so that I could keep track of everything, rather than having pieces of paper lying around everywhere. So far I have lists for; Reviews/Posts to write; Things to do to improve my blog; Things to do round the house while Isla is at nursery; Day-to-day things we need to get done. There is just something so satisfying about crossing things off a list and seeing what you have achieved.

  8. Good food
There is something about good food that can make anything better. Whether it is sitting down to a hearty warm meal in the middle of winter, comfort food while curled up on the sofa, or eating out at a fantastic restaurant for a special occasion. If the food is good, you can forget whatever else is going on at that moment and be happy
  9. Post
I’m a bit old-school, in that I love to write a letter to someone. In fact, once I’ve finished drafting this post I’m going to write to my Grandad. I also love getting post. No, not bills and junk mail, but a nice letter or an invite (one to my niece’s Christening has just popped through my door now!) It’s just so much more personal than an email or text. I know I’m guilty of it a lot of the time. I guess time, and convenience is a huge factor these days. It takes so much more time to write a letter, find a stamp, and address, and then a post box. Also, post is so unreliable these days. I sent my mum a Mother’s Day card on the Friday (last-minute I know!), first class and sent it from a post office, and it didn’t arrive until the Wednesday! How crap are you Royal Mail!?

  10. Buying something new
There’s a warm feeling you get when you get something new. I love to shop for things round the house or cute outfits or toys for Isla. Though I’m one of these weird people who HATES shoe shopping! It’s just my idea of hell, sorry. I’m expecting lots of people to unfollow me soon! But anything else is great really. I’m sad that I was excited to get a new table-cloth recently…it’s PVC so no need to wash it every 5 minutes when Isla decides to redecorate the living room with her yoghurt, and no need to scrub the table when the food has stuck to it. It just wipes off easily. Oh god, I’m getting old!! What can I say quickly that will make me sound 30 and not 60!? Oooh, I’ve just bought myself a new phone! It should be arriving today, though I need to sort out a new SIM card and contract for it before I can use it, that’s a job for tomorrw maybe. But I can’t be the only one who is made happy when they get a new phone, or something else new?

So what things make you happy?

Love this! I am also very thankful for my parents. We get to see them pretty often, and they do so much for me and my family. #thelistlinky

I love a good list too!! I have to say, it makes me FAR too happy when I can cross something off of it, I worry that I’ve got a list addiction! Great to see all your reasons, especially your mother in law on there, it’s lovely to hear that she makes the cut too!!

Awww. I know what you mean about receiving post. It’s lovely. Pre children I used to be so good at sending cards and letters etc but it’s fallen off the bottom of my to do list (I too love a good list!)… you have inspired me to make more of an effort. Yay for being happy Kate x
